This takes two colors of yarn, plus whatever "toppings" you want to add. The first color should be "fruity" for the ice cream scoop - pink (strawberry), green (pistachio), white (vanilla), variegated, whatever!

The second color should be tan (sugar cone), cream (cake cone) or brown (chocolate cone).

"Toppings" could be seed beads, spangles, buttons, or whatever strikes your fancy. (Personally, I like the idea of buttons!) The ornament should be stuffed to hold its shape. It's about 7 inches tall when done.

Pick up your "G" hook and the ice cream colored yarn, and:

The Scoop

Chain 2.

Round 1: 6 sc in 2nd chain from hook.

This is best worked in a "spiral" (no turning as each round is completed, just "jump" to the next round.) Mark the beginning of rounds using a safety pin or different colored yarn. Move the marker out as you complete each round.

Round 2: 2 sc in each sc below (12 sc)

Round 3: *sc in sc, 2 sc in next sc* around (18 sc)

Round 4: *sc in each of first 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc* around (24 sc)

Round 5: sc in each sc around (24 sc)

Round 6: *sc in each of next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc* around (30 sc)

Rounds 7-10: sc in each sc around

This ice cream has a drip:

Row 11: 1 sc in front loops only of first three sc, chain 1, turn

Rows 12: sc in both loops of the 3 sc's, chain 1, turn

Rows 13: sc in both loops of the 3 sc's, turn

Row 14: chain 3 (counts as 1st hdc), 3 hdc in center sc, chain 3 (counts as final hdc), sl st to last sc in row below, finish off (You may want to tack this down to the cone.)

Stuff the scoop portion, and continue stuffing as you go along.

The Cone

Round 1: With the cone-colored yarn, sc in the back loops only of the scoop piece (30 sc)

Round 2: *sc in next 4 sc's, dec 1 sc over next two sc's* around (25 sc)

Round 3: sc in each sc around (25 sc)

Round 4: *sc in next 3 sc's, dec 1 sc over next two sc's* around (20 sc)

Round 5: sc in each sc around (20 sc)

Round 6: *sc in next 3 sc's, dec 1 sc over next two sc's* around (16 sc)

Round 7: sc in each sc around (16 sc)

Round 8: *sc in next 6 sc's, dec 1 sc over next two sc's* twice (14 sc)

Round 9: sc in each sc around (14 sc)

Round 10: *sc in next 5 sc's, dec 1 sc over next two sc's* twice (12 sc)

Round 11: sc in each sc around (12 sc)

Round 12: *sc in next 4 sc's, dec 1 sc over next two sc's* twice (10 sc)

Round 13: sc in each sc around (10 sc)
